Artifact: Emerging Technology Presentation
Reflection
The Emerging Technology Project I created a couple of semesters ago before my class actually ended up being very proactive in the way that I was not aware Atlanta Public Schools was going to go. With this emerging technology project I had to find a digital tool that I wanted to present to my administration that will be great for our school to use for helping our students become 21st century Learners. I collaborated with teachers and administrators to select and evaluate digital tools and resources for other technologies that came in our school. I was looking into Google already to see if it was possible to find a way to use this in our school. I was unaware at the time that Atlanta Public Schools was working with Google already in order to have Google Classroom provided for the entire School District. I would find out the summer of 2016 that that was already put in place. This was a great project for me to complete to help me learn how to prevent an emerging technology to my administration the staff that would be beneficial to everyone from the students to the administration and staff.
The purpose of this project was one of the projects that will lead you to be a leader for the school where you would look into the vision of the school and you were use your research and your knowledge of digital tools to present to the administration that this would be a good fit for your school in order to reach the 21st century goes. I showed mastery in this standard because before I started this degree at Kennesaw State, I was already collaborating with teachers and administrations to select and evaluate digital tools and resources for the compatibility with the school technology infrastructure. The students and staff and faculty will all benefit from this emerging technology. I had done my research on Google and really liked the way that the students could connect to each other and how they could create more visual projects that would show their individuality as well as showing mastery of the curriculum at hand. I was not aware of the Google talks with Google classroom with Atlanta Public Schools so
I thought that it was very forward of me that I was thinking on the same lines of the district.
I learned how important it is to have collaboration with your teachers and administrators so you can assess what needs to be looked at technology wise in the school, especially with the technology infrastructure. I think that was a great thing to know when I reached summer and found out that Google Classroom was being provided for the school district. I felt that I was really in line to what the Atlanta Public Schools wanted to complete their vision. If I did anything differently I think I probably would have talk to Google and has a Google representative also give their input or provide me with extra input on what I could have done to help “sell” Google apps to the school. Of course this is kind of a moot point since the district purchased Google classroom for the whole district.
This artifact could be assessed by taking a survey by the people who are watching this presentation to see if they would be interested in and what they like to learn more about it. They can also assess it by seeing how many people are interested in this but are unsure and then they can work on what things were going to share about and find out where they're concerned that you could go back and answer them in the later time. This whole Google apps program is for the entire school so it would also be looked into how well it work with the students how could it be feasible for all the students to be affected positively by Google apps. The faculty could receive the proper training in Google to create lessons, assessments and have students collaborate digitally.
