Funding strategies may include the development, submission, and evaluation of formal grant proposals. (PSC 1.3/ISTE 1c)
Artifact: Action Evaluation
Reflection
The Action Evaluation Plan was created in my Leadership class over the summer. I had to look at the school community at all levels and make recommendations on what programs could be implemented into the school to meet the school’s vision. I also had to determine what, if any funding would be needed to implement this vision for the school that met the technology goals for the school, district, and state.
The artifact shows that I can research not only the school needs but the resources that will be economically pleasing to the school administration that would not put a strain on the technology budget that has to be planned in advance for the school year. This assignment was to think like I am on the school strategic planning team and to think of ways to meet the guidelines of the school district and state that will be beneficial to the school year. Research of creative ways to use the budget wisely for technology was a skill that I was learning while completing this assignment since the school’s budget is restricted being in a public school. You also need to be aware of what products and programs you are recommending that will be useful to the school to meet their academic goals they are trying to reach.
I learned how much research is required to recommend and implement products. You cannot just pick random programs. You have to look at the details of your school population. There are programs that seem great and purposeful until you look deeper beyond the outside packaging of the program. You have to think of the type of learners you have and what would be the most beneficial before recommending that the school spend money on it. It would be a waste of money to get a large program for reading at an accelerated rate if most of the students are struggling with reading and would benefit from more phonic programs.
If there was anything I could change it would be to have spoken more with my principal during this project regarding how programs are chosen or implemented. I would like to know the process that goes into these purchases. I would have benefitted from that information in order to look more specifically at the school’s needs in regards to technology goals for the school.
The plan most directly affects school improvement because this is about building a plan that would be implemented through the school for overall school improvement through technology. The plan is affecting the student achievement because the plan is about using technology to help student achieve at their level.
