Reflection
I have been using digital communication for the last couple of years with class dojo.com as an effective tool to communicate with my parents. Because we are in a world of technology and quick messaging, I have use Class Dojo as an effective tool to show communication with my parents. Now I have not had a hundred percent communication with my parents but I have usually used over 50% of my parents who used Class Dojo as an effective tool to communicate back with me. I use the messaging system to send out Mass messages to my students parents regarding progress reports regarding things going on with the school regarding reminder is. Is also a behavior management tool so parents can know how their students are behaving throughout the day. The best feature that I love so much about class dojo is that they added the communication device of pictures and video for parents to see what is going on in the school and the classroom. I actually find the communication tools more effective and then it is as a behavior management tool.
Digital communication is the quickest way to reach most parents now. Especially since in the school environment that I work then the students are in very inconsistent home lives meaning that day move from place to place but things that one thing that does not change about their parents is that they have their mobile devices. The thing that I am always looking into is to making sure that I try to up my percentage of parents using this tool and realizing that it is a great tool to have. I think that Class Dojo needs to add a multi-language feature because I have students whose parents do not speak or read English so they do not fully understand the purpose of this feature for communication. I would really like to see if there is a communication tool for ESOL parents or look into a translator or a Spanish version of the notification that can go to the parents that can be sent out to the parents so they are not left out. I still have the school year to look into it and I may find a solution.
This will have an impact on school improvement if all of the school frequently uses this program. If the school had 100% communication then you would have more involvement from the parents. Students who see that their parents are actively involved may show more improvement in their schoolwork when they see parents are actively involved. Administration can see parent involvement increase when they have more parents receiving notification from teachers and the school regarding upcoming events at the school. Digital communication is a necessity to stay in communication with the school students, parents, and community.
