6.3 Field Experiences
Candidates engage in appropriate field experiences to synthesize and apply the content and professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions identified in these standards. (PSC 6.3)
Artifact: Unstructured Field Experience
Reflection
I think that by completing various field experiences give a chance for the educator to experience the types of scenarios that they have been reading about. The purpose is to apply the content and professional knowledge that we have been taught during the program. I had to record the time spent planning and implementing various skills learned during the program. This artifact is one of many field experiences that I completed during my time in this program.
I think this shows mastery of this standard because it not only asks for me to show the type of field experiences I completed but it asks for reflection and understanding of the experiences I completed during the semester when it comes to applying content and professional knowledge, skills and dispositions. The purpose of the field experiences is to show that you are working within your school to work on skills to become a great coach. It is good for educators to always look into having plenty of field experiences to practice and work on your craft.
I think that there were probably other opportunities that I could have attempted to apply towards additional field experiences, I should have looked into them. Time restrictions prevented that but I think after this coursework is done I still will look into any chances I can to work with coaches to get an idea of how to continue to apply professional knowledge, skills, and dispositions without being a coach yet will help build more experiences before I actually become a coach.
Field experiences help me with building stronger faculty development and help with student improvement. Field experiences help me with the practice I need to become an efficient coach. I think that having records and reflections of those field experiences help with creating a style of coach I want to be and work with applying those skills when I become a technology coach. I think the reflections of the field experiences help to me have a better understanding of what will be asked of me and what I need to ask of myself as a technology coach. Building my experiences up with help with faculty development and creating great professional learning experiences for my faculty, staff and students that I will be assisting.
