Artifact: Podcast
Reflection
For one of our classes we spent a lot of times going through various Internet tools. For one of our projects we had to create a podcast introducing to teachers and administrators a tech that we felt they had to know about. I created a podcast using Podomatic that shows that I could develop and model online digital content. I think this is a great tools to show how to incorporate a small amount of professional learning for teachers and administrators. This artifact could also be used for student learning because as an educator you could present information and make it available for students at any time to refer back to as a learning tool. They can also create their own podcast to support and extend student learning.
I think this shows mastery of using online and blending learning tools because this is a tool that can be used for teacher delivery to faculty and administration as well as a teaching tool for students. This artifact can also be used for student learning meaning they can use this tool and create their own digital projects for teaching and learning. By creating this podcast, I developed and modeled the use of digital content and learning networks to expand opportunities for professional learning for teachers. This podcast is easy to use and with proper modeling from the teacher, students can create their own mini lessons and show understanding of a standard with a podcast and use it to refer to for the school year.
I learned how to facilitate the digital content to other people and make it relatable and show how important tools like this can be important to not just student learning through audio and visual digital tools, but also with professional development with their own learning. If I had to do differently I think I would have created something for students. I think I had administration and teachers in mind only to be able to take advantage of podcasting but I believe now that students as young as kindergarten could create podcasts.
I think the work will impact school improvement for faculty because it is a great tool that teachers can refer to with podcasts. As long as it is made available teachers can use it to refer to whatever the podcast is about. For student learning, I believe that students can use this type of artifact to help if they are working on reading skills and hearing instructions over without asking the teacher is great for them to have. Since our students have Google Classroom, podcasts could be shared to the students for them to refer to at any time during the school year. The most effective way for success to be assessed is to assess students formally and informally after implementation of the digital content to see if there has been marked growth that may have not occurred before the implementation of the content.
