Vision
The vision for the use of technology in P-12 schools is to support everything from data collection and analysis, to student learning. The technology coach works successfully with the staff and students in the school to help to build the school’s 21st century technology vision. “A well-prepared and talented coach can accomplish a great deal, but every coach’s impact will be magnified when she or he works in partnership with an effective instructional leader” (Knight, p. 32). The school uses data to analyze student achievement and gaps and to implement strategies with technology that can help with teacher delivery and student achievement.
Using an Action Plan that clearly spells out the uses of technology and if it is effective data collection that will help to improve the school’s achievement level is a great tool to have all stakeholders look at. Next steps can be made in collaboration with the administration and the district regarding where to go next and provide effective technology to the staff and students. Administration will work with the available budget to determine the best purchase of technology to help, such as Chromebooks or iPads or other tablets to make accessible to teachers and students. Teachers will work with the Technology Coach to learn about the best practices with technology that they can use the enhance instruction and improve student performance. The coach is modeling and providing support throughout the school year to the staff that will help to make sure that they are using the proper technology with the students.
The technology coach will also work with the students to make sure they are taking full advantage of the technology that is available. With the coach working with the teacher to prepare lesson plans that are including technology that enhance learning, students are also creating digital footprints of their own with authentic learning experiences and projects. Students are using technology to show their understanding of standards based curriculum. The students are using technology for lesson review, intervention, assessments and project based learning. Everyone in the school is using technology to their fullest capacity with the guidance of their technology coach.
